On Sunday May 7th, 2006, Astronaut, Dr.Buzz Aldrin gave a short talk and signed copies of his new children's book at the historic Malaga CoveLibrary. Hundreds of people showed up for the event. The event was organized by the P.V. Library, and local USC Professor and Outer Space architect, Madhu Thangavelu.
During the question and answer period a local resident, originally from Eastern Europe, recounted to Buzz how he had worked on the Soviet space program, but was delighted that the U.S. had won the space race. Buzz, joked that it was a good thing he did not fly Soviet fighter planes, because otherwise he would have had to shoot him down.
